Default Please Advise - 2006 XC70 - Front Windshield Wipers Do Not Work

Good morning. Our son is driving our 2006 XC70 and the front windshield wipers have stopped working. Need URGENT help getting this sorted. I have done the following: replaced the 25A fuse in the engine bay fuse box. I have purchased two new relays (part number 9441160) but cannot find a diagram that shows which one is for the front wipers. I have replaced the wiper motor assembly with a good part from Erievovo. I have replaced the wiper control stalk on the steering column. The controls will work the rear wiper but nothing happening with the front. We have a couple of days of clear weather but then rain will be moving in and I need to have this fixed. What am I missing? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Here's where the relays go - wiring diagram can be found at https://volvodiag.com/ewd-online-eng/

I suggest you use a different method other than guess, replace and check. As you have found it can get very frustrating. First thing I would do is use a compatible scan tool to talk to all the control units in the car - With the right scan tool you can operate various components of the wipers and verify the hardware is working properly to hopefully help isolate your problem.

A scanning tool that lets you operate the windshield wipers on the car? What kind of technology are we talking about here? This is something I certainly don't own and don't have any idea how to get.

Here's a screen shot where you can use VIDA (with a dice unit) to operate/activate any of those items in the CEM and check that the CEM is getting a signal from all the wiper related functions (in the green box)

Vida is volvos diagnostic software but many of those functions (for all the control units) are present in (more expensive) aftermarket scan tools. A version of VIDA that will work on your car can be easily found for free on the internet. You would just need to purchase a DICE unit - and there are plenty of cheaper clones available that work.
