2008 xc70 low oil light
Hi folks - I have a 2008 XC70 with 178,000 MI on the Odo. Just returned from a relatively long trip with the car, and it ran perfectly, from Utah to Seattle and back, at sustained highway speeds up to 90 mph. This morning I received a low oil indicator, checked the oil, it was fine. I suspect a faulty oil pressure sensor. Is that the first place to look? If so, where is the sensor located.?
Oil level sensor is in the oil pan. Removing it drains all the oil out.
How about changing the oil and putting the correct amount back in to see if the warning goes away?
A word of caution on your FoMoCo I6 - there is no low oil pressure warning light switch in that engine. You know - the switch that turns off the oil pressure light when there is 7 psi or above oil pressure? The switch that every other engine I've ever worked on has?
I've replaced 2 of those engines that seized (on 2 different cars) where the engine was run low on oil, and the low oil warning did not work, and since there is no low oil pressure sender - that red light warning did not come on either.
