Help 2000 XC70 factory stereo. THis is my first "newer" Volvo and this is a puzzle. Disconnected the battery for new alternator last weekend. When we stared the car up Radio dispplayed Code but had to wait till Monday to call the dealer for Code. When I started it up again Monday evening, LED display was blank but displays OFF when I push the power button. I did the KEY on to Position 1 > 2 hours with radio ON like the manual states NUMEROUS times, but can't get the word CODE to come up. I tried the code anyway to no avail. Then I tried the key position II for fun > 2 hours. Nothing. Disconnected the battery agin. Nothing. Unhooked the sereo from behind . Nothing. Is it dead ?

 

Sorry to say but you have to wait longer for it to change to code. I have seen some cars take up to 5 hours.

No joy..sigh...8 hours post-got to drive to work without a radio. I think I'll drive my 42 year old Buick or my 30 year old Chevy. The factory radios still work in both.
Tech Admin-You must keep really busy here-I've owned 35+ cars in my lifetime and this is by far the most annoying, breakin-*** thing I've ever owned. Getting close to the J word.

 

How long did it sit for with the key in the first position?
