We just purchased a 2001 XC70 AWD, 55K mile and notice a noise which sounds like a transmission problem. ?? I know that at idle the transmission goes into neutral and back into gear when I relase the brake pedal. When I do so, there is a momentary hesitation then a thud as the car begins to move forward. Is this a transmission problem or a brake release problem. I was told that a software up-date to the transmssion computer would solve the problem. Any observations or suggestions, please. I'm curious about this software upgrade. I have a 2001 S60 and the hesitation then subsequent jerk from the "auto-neutral" is annoying. Thanks in advance.
