Default Rear shock Volvo XC70 CROSS COUNTRY AWD part finding

Hi, newbie here in need of help.

The driver side rear shock absorber has gone on my XC70. I’m being told by my garage they casnot source an after market spare for it and Volvo want £700 for an official new one.

vehicle is 2001 XC70 Cross Country AWD

I bought this https://ebay.us/m/1gdFPn but am told it is the wrong part (too small) even though it’s advertised clearly as fitting my vehicle.

can anyone help me with some advice as to why I can’t find the correct part to replace the shock absorber?

thank you so much for any help!

Volvo uses either self leveling Nivomat or normal shocks. The Nivomats are expensive. You can use regular shocks if you change the rear springs also. Otherwise the rear suspension will sag/droop due to the lighter springs used with Nivomats.
