Timing marks
Unless they changed them dramatically from '98 to '99, the timing marks on the camshaft gears will be at 45 degrees pointed up & towards each other. They will point at the small corners opposing them on the upper cover. In other words the rear shaft timing mark would be positioned at 1 1/2 o'clock, and the front shaft would be positioned at 10 1/2 o'clock. Now look for the crankshaft gear marks (hard to see w/o very good lighting) that should straddle the raised mark on the engine. Sorry for no pix.
