I'm about to embark on solving my transmission whoe's lol2002 XC70. I have read allot of post about the upgraded B4 servo cover solving many of the shift flaring issues.


My question is:
Is this a real fix to replace the B4 servo cover ?
Seems to be too simple !
I'm an Aircraft Mechanic, so I'm very technically proficient, and know there's usually allot more to transmission failures.


I also know there's other things that contribute to this failure, like clogged solenoids and poor preventative maintenance.


I plan on replacing these parts, but need to know the exact sequence of doing this work. I've heard that the software should be upgraded by the dealer first, then do the repairs, but is that really necessary? Should I Flush the tranny and do adaptation first or just wait until all the other maintenance is done ?


Also, I'd like to hear your "Professional" opinions on rebuilding and cleaning the solenoids versus just replacing the solenoids ?


Any help to accomplish this task in the most efficient manner will be very welcomed !

 

If it's broken then yes, replacing the cover with the updated version can fix it. Software should always be done as well.

 

Should the software be accomplished before or after the repairs

 

It doesn't matter. We always check for updated software with any trans complaint.
