New to the forum with a question. I purchased a used 2001 xc70 back in June. The dealer replaced the timing belt at 93,000 miles before I realized that that is earlier then recommended. Then I brought it back under warranty to have the transmission rebuilt. back in September. I have noticed that the transmission slips out of gear on turns sometimes so I brought it back again. The check engine light has gone on and off a couple of times. This time they told me that it is the VVT that is causing the tranny to do funny things. These are the same people who tell me that is is normal for the engine to stumble and the RPM to surge up to 1,100 when the a/c on. Any ideas on any of this? Other than these problems my wife loves the car. I think I am being taken for a ride and am getting frustrated. I don't really want to pump any more money into this if I don't have to.
