Default timing belt change and VVT

Hello!

im changing my timing belt of my xc90 t6 (2.9L dohc ) and i just realized that booth of the camshaft sprockets with a "center can" wich i think they are the VVT mechanism they are loose, this means that if i turn any of the sprocket to left or right they will not return to the original position.

anyone that has done it before on a T6 o knows something about it, is this normal? or those "cans" are damaged?

i will appreciate any input.

Thanks Guys!!

That is normal make sure the marks are lined up with the top cover and you will be fine.
