XC70 T6 Doughnut/Spare Tire..
I got a flat on my 2014 XC70 T6 and had to drive about 40 miles on the doughnut.
1) Should I replace the doughnut in case I need to use it at some point in the future?
2) I have 28,500 mile on the car/tires, should I replace both rear tires?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you,
RIN

I am not familiar w/the Volvo numbers to know if you are awd or not...
But, if you bought quality tires, then yours are only half worn.
I would keep yours....even if they only have 5,000 miles left on them.
But, I'd get rid of that donut...even if the new one doesn' fit in the same spot ( and if it doesnt, I'd then have 2 spares). You can get another rim at a boneyard, or the tire store can get you a steel rim.
They say that if you buy new tires they go on the back....that is BS...all the braking and starting traction demands are in the front, you hydroplane in the front way before the back, if you slide in the snow or ice...tis in the front....it won' turn. I ain' never had a car slide out in the back, but I've had those 3 happen about 50 times, for each one.

This depends upon what year XC70 that you have. The spare tire is still good (have a shop verify). The idea is that you use it temporarily not over long distances.
Keeping a full size spare in the trunk is more folly than function. In almost every used car that we buy, we find the spare tire flat which means that it would have not served any purpose anyway.
The compact spare is fine.
