I did search existing threads, but did not find the answer.
I'm installing a Curt 2" receiver hitch on my 2013 Volvo XC70. No problem there. I've done this on two 2008 V70s, and a 2014 XC 70.
But the wiring harness is giving me fits. I'm using the "Curt Powered Tail Light Convertor with 4-pole flat trailer connector part number C59236". (see: https://www.etrailer.com/Custom-Fit-...leID=201338670). Tapping into the correct wires for each function stop/turn/running light is straightforward. But where is there a source of 12 volt battery power that is accessible in the rear compartment??? I found two unused wire connectors in the spare tire well (see pics below). There is one with a single big red wire on the driver-side, but it seems dead with no power with the car running. Is the passenger-side 4-wire connector for the trailer light functions? Is there a suitable 12 V source in the rear, or do I really need to run a wire all the way to the battery up front?
Never mind. I worked it out. Tapped a blank fuse receptacle in the rear cargo area for power, and was able to use taps to connect to the leads of the left and right lower taillight for turn signals, and to the drivers-side for everything else.
