$1000 for one Headlight out 2009 XC90
Hello, new here looking for some advice with a 2009 XC90 left Hand Non HID low beam headlight failure issue. The light began going out after 30-40 minutes of driving, finally only coming on when the key was turned for a few seconds, and finally, not lighting at all. I have checked the bulb and fuse and both are OK, no signs of burning or corroded connectors, with no voltage at connector. So I suspect the headlight relay may be the next thing to check- but it appears to be a part of the CEM. Replacing the CEM and reprogramming will cost around $1000- and that just seemed crazy for just a headlight out! So I removed the CEM and sent it to Module Experts in FL for repair since the relays themselves are cheap. They responded that the module 'could not be repaired', and provided no further information. I purchased a remanufactured CEM from them, and went to re-install- but realized it needed to be re-programmed. Unfortunately, the two modules - the original and remanufactured one-have different part numbers, and the on-line programming service says that it will not work with two different part numbers! Ill have to return the remanufactured CEM....So with my wifes car out of service for nearly a month and the cost spiraling- have I missed anything here? Is there a way to get a 12v source somewhere in the car that I can use to light the headlight? Has anyone else faced this problem? Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Not sure if XC90 is the same as S40 but...The S40 CEM has relay that you can replace:
