Hi all,

I haven't been on the forum for awhile but now we're looking at moving back into the Volvo family i thought i would consult the experts.

We're looking at a 2007-2008 (maybe 09) XC90 but i am not sure which of the available engines packages are better or worse. We had a 2006 V8 and it was pretty good apart from some clunky gear changes and a non functioning cd player/changer.

In the 2007-2008 models is the 3.2 better than the v8 in terms of reliability and having less issues? Is one year better than the other? Is there anything obvious we should look for? The one "must have" for us is AWD as we're in the north east other than that we're not picky.

hmmm not exactly overwhelmed by the responses......

 

i doubt there's many people who've owned 2 or more xc90s with different engines, so no one really has a basis for comparison.

 

What about each individual engine though? Have people with the 3.2 been happy and somewhat issue free? same with the V8 owners

 

Kind of a late answer for you but we have the 2007 3.2V6 and it seems solid. Considering the transmission issues in T6 and some V8s, I'd go with the V6 as the T5 2.5 isn't available on the later models.

 

After a 4 year nightmare with a Land rover, I decided to change to an XC90. Was originally looking for a 2007-2008, but upon interviewing our local Volvo dealership and a few Volvo specialized shops, the 2.5T came overwhelmingly recommended. So I moved down a few years to get that model instead.... as a bonus, I prefer the tail lights of the pre-2007 models!!!!
