I have a 2004 XC 90 which I hope I can get some help with. The tailgate will not release. When the remote is pushed you can hear it "unlock" but it will not budge. I have crawled into the cargo area and removed the panel so the locking mechanism is exposed. What I need help with is what do I do now? I do not see any obvious way to release the latch.And, if I can get it open, how do i keep this from happening again?

I assume your pulling the handle latch. Will not open unless you use the latch releas
