2004 xc90 Passanger Side Hood Latch Release
Can’t release the passenger side hood latch? Get excited, because you’re opening that stubborn hood right now!
1.Search the internet for xc90 hood latch (as if you wanted to purchase) if you don’t know what it looks like or just to identify the little release lever that you will eventually be pulling. You must know the general area where the latch is located or you may be looking for a good long time. It’s located directly behind the passenger side headlight.
2. Get a wire coat hanger, small powerful flashlight and something to fashion the wire coat hanger into a hook at one end.
3. Take your flashlight and look up under the passenger side of the xc90 (probably works on other vehicles too). The area is a bit tight, but you will be able to see the latch and release.
4. Fashion your wire coat hanger into a hook at one end and slide it up close to the release lever. At this point I cut the access coat hanger off for more control.
5. Get the hanger in the hole and pull. Took me five minutes of fishing for the hole and bending the hanger for a better angle, but it can be done.
Hopefully it worked for you. I really don’t see why it wouldn’t. I’m leaving the wire connected because I didn’t figure out how to tighten the cable yet. I suggest you do the same. Once the hood is open, you can bend the hanger a bit more and let it hang without fear of it coming loose or causing damage.
