Default 2004 XC90 Water Leak from driver's side wiper

Hi all -

I've had this leak for awhile but only today did I spend time to try and locate it. I've read of the problems with the clogged sunroof drains, and this isn't my problem. I tested it by pouring water in the front portion of the sunroof, and both drains were draining properly.

I then focused on the lower, drivers-side corner of the windshield, and I seem to have isolated the leak to the wiper motor area. There's a small rubber seal there that covers the wiper motor shaft, and water must be getting in there somehow.

Does anyone have experience fixing this kind of leak?

Thanks!

There is TNN on this. I had it happen to me recently and it ended up shorting out my CEM. Of course the thing was out of warranty.

By searching around, I found that one can actually subscribe to and download all the Tech Journals from Volvo. ALWAYS ask your independent mechanic (no matter how good he is) if he subscribes. We did not and the guy was did not know anything about the problem. If he would have read the TNN last year, it would have saved me $1200. It costs $4 for a 3 day pass - download as many as you want for any model Volvo. For a 365 day pass it costs $245 - no excuse for any Volvo shop not to subscrible.

Here is a link to the TNN that show the repair.
TNN 37-55
