Default 2005 DVD Entertainment Question

OK. I'm a newcomer to the XC90 in general and the rear-seat entertainment system in particular. I'm starting to figure it out,and my daughter loves being able to watch Dora, Diego and the rest on the drive to the grandparents house, but I was mostly getting it working using "the force". So, tonight I sat in the back and played with the various features and functions while my wife drove home.

I know that I can set the audio from the DVD to play on the rear speakers or through the wireless headphones. But, when listening to the CD/Radio output via the extra rear headphone jacks (an awesome feature, in my opinion) I realised that the DVD output wasn't available on the headphone jack. I find the quality of the IR headphones to be less than awesome, and the audio CAN play through the car's stereo, so I'm wondering if there's something I'm missing. Can you listen to the DVD audio on regular headphones or are you stuck with either the wireless IR set or Dora the Explorer's voice driving everyone crazy?

Experts?

I think your stuck with the Volvo brand headphones.Although the new ones since 05 have improved a little.

Thanks. Everything I'm finding agrees with you. I've found the generic, late model replacements on eBay for around $16 each. They definitely look nicer than the ones I have, especially since the ones I have are missing their foam pads.

As a follow-up, has anyone ever heard of a stereo remote for the back seat passengers? I thought I read something about it in the manual; it allows the rear seat passengers to control the stereo. Am I hallucinating again?

Oh. I guess that's what you get when you read a manual off the Internet...

I expect that such a thing could exist since there's an IR receiver eye in the radio panel. It's not a huge deal, of course, just another neat feature to fiddle around with.

Thanks,

Dirk
