Default 2006 2.5T making whistle/siren sounds

Hello,

I have a 2006 XC90 2.5t and a couple month ago I had some major repair done to my engine a few months back because I had a bolt that contains 3 BB-sized bearings broke and caused havoc in my engine. Apparently it regulates air in the engine? (I'm not overly savvy when it comes to mechanics) Since then I have had this whistling sound. I assume the "BBs" also cause some damage to the turbo fan?

Has anybody else had this happen? My dealer tells me I need to replace the turbo to the tune of $800+... I have read online that I can bypass the turbo pan essentially making it a 2.5 without the turbo. What are the thoughts on that? I already sunk in $4k to get the engine repaired from the damage the BBs cause in the first place.

I have recorded the sound and put it on my account. Have a listen here: http://pages.videotron.com/randyo/volvo.mp3

Thanks your time and help.

Randy

Really hard to tell what your talking about.

I think your talking about your turbo going out? The turbine is lose hitting the sides of the turbo housing making this noise? You can take off your down pipe and put your fingers on the turbine and see how much shaft play you have by wiggling it back and forth....just pick up a used turbo that has a warrenties on it, maybe $100-$200
