2006 XC90 Strange windshield washer behavior
Hello all, this is my first post and thanks for having me.
My wife and I acquired our first Volvo together (my first was an 850T). I am going through and taking inventory of little things to get repaired.
There is one thing that has me scratching my head. I was testing the windshield washer and found that it sprays fine for maybe a half-second and then stops/dribbles. If I let go then re-apply it will spray briefly and then stop. Meanwhile the headlight sprayers work like a monsoon and cover everything with fluid.
I do not see any fluid under the hood that might indicate a leak. I’m not sure why it would act this way. I’ve googled every phrase I can think of but can’t find any similar issues anywhere.
I appreciate any help and thanks in advance.

The same thing happened to my 2006 XC90 - the main/hood washer fluid pump is bad. There are three separate systems/pumps for the hood jets, the headlight jets (get ready to replace those covers eventually,,,) and the rear windshield. The pump for the hood is a $60 part from a dealership, but I'd wait to have it addressed (if you're able to) when you take the car in for a 7500 mile service. They "threw it in" for me, which I think means I didn't get charged labor for it since they were already "into the car." It would also suggest that if you're handy and have some metric tools, it's not that big of a job and you might be able to buy the part for less and install yourself. I am not a wrencher, so doing dealer service for a vehicle this old has been worth it for me so far. Been about $400-500 per year, couldn't be happier.
