2010 XC90 AC Noise

I have a 2010 XC90 I purchased new.
There is an intermitten noise coming from the AC compressor (it's actually louder in the cabin than under the hood). It's a cross between a groaning sound similar to the way a Power Steering pump would sound if the wheels turned all the way to one direction and held there and the way a fan sounds if you were to stick a playing card against the blades. At times it's accompanied by a shaking/vibration. Both the noise and vibration go away if I manually turn off the compressor from the switch in the cabin.
It tends to make the sound more after warm starts on cold days. It almost never does it during hot summer weather. I have not noticed any performance issues with the AC system. I live in Ga and would not get very far if the AC were failing to perform.
I've told the dealer about this and they have not been able to duplicate the issue. (This dealer has been great at duplicating other issues and I believe has made many good faith tries to find the issue).
If anyone else has had this issue and managed to have it diagnosed, I'd be very interested in hearing from you.
Thanks!

I have an XC90 MY09. My Volvo does the same noice that you are descrbing, less the vibration. I have taken it to the dealer and they could not duplicate the noise either. I talked to the "service advisor" and while chatting, I turned the complressor on and off and it made the sound. Too bad the tech could not duplicate it. No problmes with my AC so far, and I live in the Middle East.

Has anyone else experienced/sorted this issue out? I've got a 2010 XC90 that exhibits a similar growling noise when AC is engaged the sound is linked to acceleration as well (louder, more consistent when adding gas). A thread on another forum suggests a similar noise from an S60 that was solved by replacing a hose (see quoted text below, og thread here: https://forums.swedespeed.com/archiv...t-171393.html?)
Anyone aware of a TSB for this?
Thanks!

"I have reported a growl from the A/C compressor at every service call. Dealer did the expansion valve adjustment early on (presumably the drain plug was fixed before I bought the car). Improved slightly, but not entirely. At my recent 37,500 mile service they replaced one of the A/C lines running from the compressor. Part #31436537-0 on the work order. Can't say for certain if it was that, or the evac/recharge they did, but am happy to report that the growl is (really, truly) gone. I've had the A/C running in temps from 60s to 90s. Car is 2012 S60 T6 AWD. I had another T6AWD as a loaner...no growl, and it looks like a new A/C line on that car as well. Seems there's (finally) a definitive Volvo fix for this problem."
