2010 XC90 - Start prevented Try again below 30°F
Hello. I searched for this topic but need help finding a similar topic in the XC90 thread.
I have a 3.2 2010 XC90 R-design, 145K miles. With the temperature dropping below 30°F in my area, I get this message: START PREVENTED TRY AGAIN whenever I try to start the vehicle. My solution so far is to blow some "hot" air into the thermostat unit for about 5 minutes, and then it will start without a problem. Once it starts, it will do so the rest of the day without blowing air again. I noticed this behavior last year around this time, too. I was recommended then to replace the thermostat with a new one, which I did, and the issue "disappeared." There were times when the temperature dropped below 30° in early spring, and the problem did not appear. Has anyone experienced this behavior before, and how did you solve the problem?
Thank you
Pedro
