2010 XC90- Tranny slipping
Tranny slipping on initial start from start. Dealer says to change fluid at $300 as Volvo won't cover this . Warranty book says unless towing or service light advises, no fluid change is required unless towing (then at 50 k miles, 84k kms).
The fluid is the first step in diagnosis. I have advised Warranty people that I don't think i should have to pay for a diagnosis and replacement of something that my warranty schedule says doesn't need replacing. I'm waiting for their reply. Warranty ending soon. Anyone have a similar situation or advise.

The slipping was more of a quick surging event from the start position. Much too jumpy for a luxury vehicle. The story ended with the Volvo warranty people requiring the Dealer to hook up the vehicle to the computer and "reset" the electronic (learning) transmission to the factory settings. Problem solved and dealer got caught trying to milk me for an unnecessary fluid change.
This is a reason to read sites like these before going to the dealer...at least my dealer.
Here's another disappointing moment with the dealer:
I asked how I could determine if my "steering" headlamps were working. The confident "Volvo technician" assured me that my vehicle wasn't equipped with that feature. I later changed the position of my light switch (as per owners manual) and voila...steering headlamps. Slow driving in left to right curves and turns and the effect was obvious.
