2012 xc90 ecm
I own a 2012 XC90 which had a remote starter installed and operational for 2+ years. Install was done via Best Buy Geek Squad.
3 weeks ago I turned off the car and removed the key from the ignition (my model year is not keyless). The car stayed on, even though the key was removed from the ignition... I was unable to put to car into park or anything without the key in the ignition but the car simply would not turn off.
I took it into the dealer and they were unable to get the car to turn off without disconnecting the battery. Left it there and when I went to pick it up they said they found nothing wrong with the car and believed that the fault was with the remote start system. They recommended I get it removed, which I did.
So a few days ago, with the remote start no longer installed, same thing happened. Took it into dealer and got a call that the ECM was damaged and it would cost $2000 to repair.
Would appreciate comments/feedback on this as I'm a bit skeptical given that the car functioned fine for 2 years with the remote start and when I brought it in a few weeks ago they said nothing was wrong but are now saying it is a damaged ECM due to the remote start.
Thanks!
