Default 2013 XC90 Oil pressure light may not be used?

Hi all, I have just purchased a 2013 XC90 with 12,000 KM on it. I noticed on start up that there is no oil can illuminated, oil pressure light. Read the manual, and it states that on certain engine models the low oil pressure symbol may not be used, instead in the case of low oil level, a message will appear in the message centre and the warning symbol will appear in the centre of the instrument cluster.
I guess my questions are as follows, WHY would they do this, is there anyway to get the car reprogrammed so the oil light is used?
How would I know if this car uses or does not use the low oil pressure symbol ( the oil can ) as it is there, just not illuminated. What if the bulb is burnt, how would I know?
I guess in some respects I sort of miss the low oil pressure light!

I have searched for a service memo about this without luck.

As far as I know there is no low oil light on the car. However you will gets low oil level message in the cluster. Its stupid I know, but what's worse is the way the message comes on. The computer needs to see a change in the pressure to turn the light on. So if there is no oil when the car starts up because there is no change in pressure at all it will not throw a low oil light. So unless you plan to not put oil in your car you will be fine.
