This cylinder compression test applies to all 2016 - 2022 VOLVO XC90
1. remove all 4 ignition coils
2. remove 4 spark plugs from 4 cylinders
3. screw compression gauge into cylinder 1 with hand
4. go inside the car and try to start vehicle for 5-8 seconds
5. go outside, check and record compression on the gauge
6. repeat with other cylinders.

I did 2 tests : first without anything added into cylinders
second time around I added 5ml ( mililiters ) of engine oil (0w-20) into each cylinder and I repeated above tests.
second round tests increased pressure gauge readings from 2-5psi from across 4 cylinders (145psi to 150psi) all readings were very consistent.
