Hello everyone,
My Xc90 is currently under lease and I have a key FOB that stopped working a year ago. Shouldn't the dealer fix it? My wife took it in 6 months ago for service and mentioned to just hand it in when the lease expires. But I am considering buying it and would like it fixed but not at the crazy prices quoted. Anybody with any experience/thoughts with this?
Thanks!

I had the same problem after I changed the batteries for my 2017 XC90 key fobs. They just stopped working. I tried different batteries, took it to dealership to get it checked.
They mentioned that it must be remote sensor that need to be diagnosed and they will charge me 250 to diagnose the problem. Other dealer changed the battery and as it didn't work, they said I will need new key fob, which will cost me 500 including programming.
I didnt want to throw away that kinda money. I came home and looked at the key fob battery compartment carefully and noticed that two tiny steel prongs are supposed to be straight in order for them to be in contact with positive side of the battery. I used a tiny screwdriver to make them straight and wallah both of my key fobs start to work back again.
BTW, you can see those two prongs clearly standing in the side of the battery in volvo's official battery changing video, but for some weird reason neither dealer was able to see this obvious design flaw. Those flimsy prongs can easily lose contact or just be pushed downward if you are not aware of this while changing battery
