I am posting this as our mechanic/friend was finally able to locate the cause of our coolant leak. I had previously taken the car to Volvo and they said there was no leak (even though I was having to add coolant/water - was getting the "turn car off low coolant" message - and pictures my mechanic took show coolant residue). As a matter of fact, Volvo said there is no leak since it passed a pressure test. My mechanic also there didn't seem to be a leak when under pressure. However, he said after running it for 45 minutes he finally saw where the leak was coming from (see the center of the first picture where darker droplet is). There are two metal tubes that go into the turbo. He said it appeared to be coming from the top tube. He is not super familiar with Volvo, so he recommended I take it to them. Was hoping that someone could give me some guidance as to cost of repair or if anyone else has heard of this issue. Thanks!
Did you ever get this fixed? What was the outcome and cost? I have the exact same leak on my 2019 T8. Thank you!
I had the same problem. Replaced the two o-rings on the two coolant metal tubes to the turbocharger. The o-ring part number is 31109234. The coolant metal tubes are held by a single flange screw. If you want to get a better idea of the metal tubes, the part number is 32441022.
To start, go under the car to remove the turbocharger inter cooler hose and the black plastic part with the pin locking mechanism. Then you will have a better view of the metal tubes, which is held down by a single flange screw. Remove the screw (8mm) and drain the coolant. The lower o-ring is easy to replace, however the upper one is the pain, since the space is very limited. I ended up going to YouTube and search for how to install o-ring using trick/string. Instead of a string I used a long fishing line to complete the job, by holding the o ring with one hand and pulling the fishing line with the other and the o ring fits right in. No more leak.
By the way, you may also want change the angle/bevel gear fluid since the fill/drain bolt (13mm) is there. Good luck!
