Default Broken Console Lid

I managed to repair my console lid I can't seem to upload photos but if anyone has need of this repair I can probably explain how I did it.

I'm interested, as my lid is broken at the hinge. I hear it's a common failure on these vehicles.

I will try to draw up a diagram and take some photos and email them to you or maybe someone here could help post the photos. I will try to do that after work today. I tried to write up instructions but I think a picture will be better.

I used nylon bushings sold at home depot and Lowes as spacers. You may have to reduce their diameter to fit in the steel clips that are mounted on the axle. The original molded bushings are what broke on my console lid. It was necsessary to grind out the remaining bits of the old bushing to have a nice flat surface for the new bushings or spacers. I tried to reinforce the interior of the plastic "clamshell", for lack of a better term, with epoxy putty. You should drill the holes for the screws before you completely remove the old bushings as they will act as a guide so the holes will line up with the other half of the clamshell.
So now I need to find nicer looking screws like black anodized variety. The zinc plated ones aren't pretty but they work for now. The acorn nuts on the inside look pretty good. Someone can probably come up with a better solution but I hope this helps. I think the machine screws were 1.5" long and I had to shorten them to about 1.25" They just need to fit the hole in the spacers. Sorry but this was all trial and error and no measuring.

Or you can just use the slow setting epoxy and you not have any holes. Mine broke 3 years ago and still good. Just another option
