Hi everyone, have a 2012 D5 XC90, and I've just been driving at night and could see my left headlight flickering on and off after turning, and then just flickering like a strobe light begot going off and giving the error notice of 'Bulb Failure Dipped Beam'. Is this just the headlight? Or could it be the Ballast? The mechanic I used to see replaced the right ballast and bulb 18 months ago, though also tried to con me out of a few thousand dollars so I left him. Just wondering if these are easy things to check myself or if I should just take it to my new mechanic? If anyone has had this happen, any idea of cost? I'm almost terrified to hear what the actual cost should have been instead of what I paid the last guy 😬

 

Start by swapping the bulbs left and right. Then swap the ballast to see whether the fail moves with the device.
