Default CEM Problem

Have a 2005 xc90 nothing electrical working inside the car runs an drive perfect

Did you check fuses (both inside the cabin and under the hood)? The owners manual should show which fuses do what and where the boxes are (there's a few different locations). I'd also suggest looking at the relays to see if anything there is common to the issues

There is a push switch in the ignition switch called S15 if that does not get depressed when the key is inserted it won't turn the power on for the CEM... first indication - no power windows. hit the end of the key with the palm of your hand and see if things come alive.
You can take off the column shrouds and remove the electrical part ot the switch and see the little button and give it a press as another test. At the same time you can look at the back of the column lock and make sure when the key gets inserted the the pin pushes towards
the ignition electrical switch.
