Unhappy Charging issue with 2019 XC90 Momentum Hybrid

For the last 6 months or so, I have been having intermittent issues with the charging system on my XC90 hybrid. About 25% to 35% of the time, when I plug it in to charge, the light turns yellowish and the XC90 doesn't charge. When I check the app, it will say "Paused" and it will stay like that overnight and not charge at all. The same outlet (220V) with the same charging cable will work fine at other times. I typically lock the doors after plugging in the charging cable.

When I took the vehicle to my local dealer the first time, they found some software updates that needed to be applied and said that should fix the problem. I came home and the problem still occurred.

When I took the vehicle again to the same dealer the second time, they kept it for a week and tested it the best they could with different chargers and outlets. But, they couldn't recreate the problem....hence didn't fix it.

When I brought it home, the problem occurs again intermittently. I have 2 different 220V outlets for this XC90 in my garage and they all create this intermittent issue. I have a separate 220V for Tesla Model S also in my garage that has no charging issues at all.

Anyone else have had similar issues? I would love to fix this pesky problem.....

Thanks in advance...

what happens when you use a public charging station? My gut sense is you may have a cable or connector issue with your home set up.

I haven't tried it in a public charging station. But, the Volvo dealer had used my charging cable and connector to charge my vehicle successfully at their dealership. I will look for a public charger that can use my connector and give it a shot. The problem is that it is intermittent. Even at home, it works majority of the times.

Since it is an intermittent issue, maybe the dealer didn't try charging enough times to run into the Pausing issue.

I just got a 2022 Xc 90 recharge and also have troubles charging it. I also have 2 different level 2 chargers on separate outlets that have issues intermittently charging the Volvo, but work fine on my Tesla. The included Volvo 110 charger sometimes does it to. Did you ever fix this issue?

Hello! The issue just went away on its own after some time. I had taken the XC90 2 different times to the dealer. They ensured all the software patches were installed. I think it was more of a software issue than a hardware issue. You might want to ask the dealer to focus on the software side. My dealer talked to Volvo and got some technical bulletins on this.
