Default Check Engine light question

I test drove a new 2010 XC-90 yesterday. While I was driving it the "Check Engine" light was on. I finished my drive around the block and when I got back informed the dealer of the light and told him that seeing a "Check Engine" light lit on a vehicle with 200 miles on it made me a bit nervous to buy a Volvo. His reply was that the car needed a fuse changed. In all of my history with cars and trucks I've never hears of a fuse that would cause the "Check Engine" light to come on. I let it slide yesterday since I didn't have time to discuss this, but is it even possible that a fuse would cause this? I like the XC enough (it will be the wife's so she gets final say) but I don't trust the dealer at all at this point.
Anyone have a take on this? Would a fuse cause a "Check Engine"?
Thanks

Most likely a lose fuel cap threw the "Check Engine" code/light. Don't believe the fuse thing...some salesman are lucky to be able to start the car they are trying to sell.
