I just bought a used 2003 XC90 T6. I have a small problem that just started two days ago... When i step on the breaks, I get a message "Check Stop Lamp" I've read some forums and it says to replace the break relays. Is that correct? is there a way to find out if thats the issue or something else. Please help.

 

First, check for a bad bulb.

Bad bulb or a loose bulb. Volvos (at least all of mine) seem to have this loose bulb issue more often than not.

 

you probably have a burned out tail-light could be the left could be the right or the high mount it could be 1 of them 2 of them or it could be all 3 before you go replacing brake relays check your stop lamp. Word of caution when going to fourms/ garages for help. No matter what they tell you start with the solution that costs the LEAST! amount of money then work your way up.
