code P0193 high fuel pressure xc90 V8
Hey guys just bought a nice 07 xc90 from auction last week. It runs and drives well but keeps throwing an engine light p0193 fuel rail pressure sensor too high. I see there is a sensor on the end of the rail but is there an actual regulator somewhere? wasn't sure if the sensor controls it or how it works. I ran the scanner and it's reading at idle 69-70 psi. Not sure where it's supposed to be but it does sound a little high. What do you think is the issue here?
starting in 2005 or so, Volvo went to a variable pressure pump which uses a sensor to detect pressure and that then signals to a fuel pump control module. I'd expect 55 PSI or so at idle so that's probably what's setting the CEL. most common cause is the sensor but it could also be an issue with wiring/connectors or the PCM. You should be able to find vids on youtube on how to find/test/replace the fuel pressure sensor.
