My 2011 Volvo XC90 has two problems when the outside temperature is 30 to 35 degrees. The car will crank, but the shift lever can not be moved. If I pump the brake up and down around seven times the shift lever works. Once the car runs 30 minutes it will crank and shift lever works. When I go to remove key after turning off car at outside 30 to 36 degrees, the key can not be removed. If I turned key up one position and back to take key out about three times, the key will come out. These problems do not occur when the outside temperature is 40 degrees or above. Any suggestions on what is the problem? Thanks, Don

There is a small black cable that goes from the steering column lock to the shifter. If that cable sticks you can't move the shifter or going the other way can't get the key out. Cable is visible on the left side of the shifter after you pull the surround around the shifter in the console up (then try the spray penetrant/lubricant of your choice to hopefully help)
