Default Does broken front control arm bushing matter with safety?

Volvo dealer found broken front control arm bushing when doing oil change. But the quota is $850 including parts and labor. It is not reasonable. I haven't found right auto shop to replace it.

My question is if broken front control arm bushing matters with safety. Thanks.

Most definately.
Could cause a serious accident.
Is a DIY job provided your confident with vehicle maintenance.
Then get the alignment done straight after completion.
You could access the parts quite cheaply over there in US.
Search forum threads and also Mathews forum for several good writeups on procedure.
FCp videos on it also.

You didnt stipulate year or model but see link attached. ASSUME xc90

If they are torn, it could cause the steering to wander, especially when hitting a bump.

Ask them for a price to replace the entire arm- it is usually cheaper than doing the bushings.
