Default driver window rolls down automatically

In my 2005 XC90, when I pull the button up all the way to automatically roll up the driver side window, once it get's to the top it rolls back down automatically. It's almost like a sensor is tripping and causing it to roll back down. Any ideas?

Fairly common problem with the software.
I just got mine fixed (under warranty for free).
I believe they just need to do a software fix/upgrade,etc. nothing mechanical/parts (i believe).

Yeah the window needs to be initialized. It can be done at a repair facility that has the appropriate computer. Also, try one thing first. Some Volvos have a function that lets you do it yourself. Hold the up button to close the window all the way. With the window up, again pull the window switch up to raise the window but hold it in the up position for 8 seconds then let go and check it. If the car has this feature, it will work. If not, you need a mechanic that has the right computer.

I found a way to reset it online. I first tried the following:

The method below didn't work but it may on your model year but I figured out how to reset it...

1. Turned the ignition key to the number 1 or 2 position.
2. Roll the window up all the way, holding the switch in the auto-up position
3. When it had stopped pushing up (the window) I pulled the fuse without releasing the auto-up switch
4. Turned the ignition off and re-installed the fuse and all worked well

That worked on my model year (2006) but wanted to leave both methods in case others still need the info.

Here's the other method I found online:
Find your manual and locate the fuse for the appropriate window. find a tool appropriate to pull the fuse. A small needle nose should do. A plastic tool is best. In the XC90 the fuse panel is on the driver side of the dash, and is fuse#5.
1. turn ignition to on. (Do not start motor)
2. Hold tool ready to pull fuse.
3. While running window down, pull fuse. Window will stop about 1/2 way.
4. Turn off ignition & replace fuse.
5. Turn on ignition & bring window the rest of the way down by holding switch.
6. Bring window all the way up & continue to hold switch in up position for 5 seconds after window has closed all the way.

Default Worked for me, thank you

I realize it's been a while since this was posted, but I wanted to share my experience.
We have a 2006 V50, and the front driver side window developed the same issue.

When I tried the first method (the one that worked for mwibben), I had a strange result: the window stopped coming back down after hitting the top. However, it lost the ability to go all the way down or up by hitting the button briefly. You had to hold the button constantly in order to move the window.

I then tried the second method, and it worked flawlessly.
