Default dvd repair manual for xc90 on line

Hi there,

I am looking to get a repair manual just so that I know what I am dealing with when a certain issue arises and also to have so I know what parts we would need. I guess just to be more informed overall when I have to deal with mechanics. I found one on E-bay that says it is the exact manual that the volvo dealers use. I don't want to purchase this and then have it be a waste of time. If I am going to get a repair manual i want it to be legit. Any recommendations as far as where to go about getting these??

Thanks in advance.

K.

Default RE: dvd repair manual for xc90 on line

I believe eBay is one of the few sources where you can find the factory DVD manual (called either VADIS or VIDA). There seems to be no generic manuals (Chilton, Haynes, etc...) available on the XC90s. If I were to get one, I would go with the DVD factory manual. If you are unsure, try posting this in General Volvo Chat and specifically ask for Moderator Tech's (The Master of Volvo in technical aspects) opinion.

Default eBay for Manual, a bust.

I'm looking for a service/repair manual for my XC90, but 2008. eBay has manuals up to 2005, nothing more recent. I emailed one of the auction members and no response. Any ideas?

Thanx, I might purchase it and let you know. Seems a little shadey though, a PDF of the manual. Not sold by Volvo or Chilton.

Default Manual or scam?

I downloaded one of the pdf manuals and only received the "updates" not the basic manual. So, I don't have all the pages. Check before you buy!

Default Anyone have the 2005 XC90 manual

Getting ready to pull the engine on my daughter's XC90 to do the transmission rebuild. I am in a bind as my pdf disk bought online is only the updates. (See my previous post). I am missing pages 15-13 and 15-14 of the 6 cylinder engine removal instructions. If anyone out there could e-mail me those two pages, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,
Louie

I just rebuilt the trany in my 2004. Leave the engine in the car and suspend it with an engine crane ... you may need to fabricate an anchor where the rear upper engine mount is so you can secure a chain from there to the r/f of the engine. Remove the front struts, drive axles etc and drop the subframe right out of the car. The rest of it is pretty straight forward although it is a pain . These transmissions are fairly straight forward to work on unless you get into the valve body. If the fluid is clean and you are dealing with a mechanical issue then I would leave the valve body alone. These transmissions are known for breaking input shafts and planetarys.

But I do want to point out that I found NOTHING in here about the AC system, so if you're looking for info into that I guess you're screwed (as we are).
