I have a 2004 XC90 T6 with the standard radio. In the past week the radio has worked very sporadically, it will work when the car has been off overnight for about 3-5 minutes and then quit. After it quits you may be able to get it to power on but you cannot turn up the volume from either the dial or the control on the steering wheel. The only changes that have occurred in the last week is that I changed the oil and the cabin air filter.

Any suggestions?

did it start happening BEFORE or AFTER cabin filter change-if after I'd suspect lose connection, etc. however I cannot see how filter would affect anything in the radio/wiring...

 

It started acting up a week after the filter was changed.

 

The radio was diagnosed as dead by the local dealer who quoted 1300.00 to replace, install and update with the latest software. I found a repair service that will fix the unit for 167.00 plus shipping. I will post the results of this repair.
