My 2004 XC90 has done just under 6000km since its last sevice and tesrerday started to display an orange engine symbol on the dashboard, together with the message, "engine System requires Service." When I go throught the reset procedure, I get an error code 042. Any ideas, plus, as its only information and not a red warning light, do you think it will be safe to drive untill I get chance to take it to my local garage in about 1 week?

 

you need an OBD2 scanner to read the underlying fault code. lts likely just emissions related
