Question 2004 XC90 LT6. Why Car shakes after letting off the gas while driving?

Why Car shakes after letting off the gas while driving? So this car shaking problem has been happening to me for quite some time now (3months). I didn't think anything of it until this morning when I took my car into the Masspike and thank god that when I got off the exit I experienced a rumble following with the car shaking on the passenger front tire, so I mediately pulled over to inspect what was going on to having to struggle to put the car back into park and hear some kind of loud off clicking noise that did not sound great so I shut off the car. I turned the car back on and tried to drive but it won't drive only sounds of acceleration and also grinding sounds like a gear trying to catch I know its not the transmission as I've never had any issues with it skipping or anything. Please I've got little money to take to a repair service so I've had to figure out myself how to fix the problem if I can receive some expertise answers from my fellow forum friends PLEASE. THANK YOU.

Since you are not getting power to the wheels, I'm thinking it could be an axle, could be the transmission/transfer case. How does it look where the axles go into the transmission? If you are lucky its an a failed axle that's stripped its splines or walked out of the transmission. Even that's going to be expensive for replacement parts ($400/axle) unless you can find something used but you could do the work yourself with moderate skills/tools. If its a transmission, then again its going to be expensive with lots of labor. Again you may want to go used.
