Fuel Filler Door Release
Hey gang!
My fuel door release actuator wasn't locking so I got a new one, installed it today. Discovered the actuator works, but it stays in the 'unlocked' position. In other words, when I unlock the car and press the fuel door release, it opens, but it stays in that position. Locking the doors does not return it to the 'locked' position...as if the computer isn't telling it to lock.
Any idea how to resolve this? Video below shows the new actuator when I press the fuel door release button, so the actuator definitely works. I can push the plunger back to the 'locked' position and it will unlock again when I press the fuel door release button. I also plugged in the old one (not in the video) and it does the same thing. (Wish I had known that before buying a replacement.)
Help is appreciated - thanks!

OK- I guess I should’ve waited a little longer... It seems that just locking the doors doesn’t lock the fuel door, which is surprising. It wasn’t until I started it up and drove about 100 feet that the fuel door locked. Seems like it should lock when you lock the doors.

Sometimes people want to lock their doors when filling the gas tank. (to keep others from entering their vehicles while parked and they are distracted) Volvo made that happen by not immediately locking the gas door.
