A little help for a prospective owner...
Hi all. I'm new here and just had a quick question. I'm close to buying a 2004 Volvo XC90 T6. I've read up on the transmission issues it has and whatnot. The thing I'm curious about though is, I have an appointment with a Volvo mechanic before I purchase. He'll do some rigorous inspection that I'm paying handsomely for. If he gives the green light, will I be ok? Or are there issues that just arise out of nowhere with this car? I'm kind of in love with it and I'm hoping that y'all will tell me what I want to here. Thanks so much in advance though for any help.
Regardless of the quality of the inspection a 10 year car still comes with risks. If that bothers you too much stick to buying new cars. Obviously having someone who specializes in the make/model you are considering do the inspection is far better than just a general mechanic without that knowledge. All that said, major components rarely fail out of the blue without any warning signs, so if your guy signs off on it your chances are much better than they would be otherwise.
