Ive just sold my daily driver a Toyota Starlet GT Turbo. Yes it was small but I really did not need much more. Im in the market for something with some features to make daily driving more comfortable.
I had a look at some 3 Series Bmw's Audi's and Merc, but all the time I came back to the Volvo's. Must of been the 940turbo my dad owned when I was 12 years old.
Im not new to the tuning scene and I know my way around the engine and turbo's pretty well, so I know that the 2.3 motor is pretty tunable with little to no mods.
I have so far discovered 2 850's locally.
One, a newer 96 model is a total wreck, with 50 000miles less than the older model. Seats are torn (yeah all of em) lights are faded, body and wheels are in a poor condition.
The maroon 94 one needs some work. The laquer on the bonnet has chipped in 3 places and the turbo is smoking(seal kit is not a problem, hello 19T) On braking there is a slight vibration, nothing worse then I was used to with the Starlet. The roofliner is hanging slightly and the boot spring is not as good as it used to be a couple of years ago... if you know what I mean. The cubbyhole is also stuck with some force apparently something was broken.Driver seat has a 2 inch verticle tear, but the car drives well. power is nice and smooth with a stable idle. Obviously with the bad seals, its puffing smoke on idle.
Aircon and sunroof works perfectly.
Oh yes, if you get on the brakes, the left bottom light on the dash comes on? Is that pads or just the rear light that is out?
I can obviously get it for next to nothing, R20 000 approx $2500
Is there anything I need to be looking out for?
Any suggestions?
I feel like making a rediculously low offer on the red car though...
The Maroon
The sad green car - note how well it looks on the screen
