Hi all,
My name is Andrew and I have a 2008 XC90 Executive (I think it is because of the little "xc90" crowns on the rear door pillars). It has about 109,000 miles on it and I am just starting to really like the car. I purchased it in May of this year after owning a 2001 V70XC which I LOVED, but I was rear ended in it the day I finished putting a lot of work into it (nothing was wrong with it, I just wanted to replace a lot of stuff that was work with age and use). I like Volvos for their engineering and safety. Mercedes-Benz is my all time favorite car manufacturer, but I think Volvo gives you pretty much the same in regards to safety and being designed around what is better for the driver and occupants versus just looking good and being a poor drivers car.

A little about myself, I am into construction and am currently a college student. I like working on my cars and building things. I like my 3.2 XC90 because it is easy to work on versus my 2001 V70XC. There is room under the hood to work and things don't feel like they are on top of each other.

My question is regarding this message that I keep getting on the info center: "anti skid service required", or sometimes "anti skid temporarily off" message. I recently noticed at night when this happens (when it says service required) that the adaptive headlamps default to a "right" position, and if I turn off the adaptive lamps, that they return to normal. I have searched for this problem with no clear answer found. I have recently replaced the rotors and pads (when I bought the car), and only noticed this about a month or two after the fact. Could sensors be covered with brake dust? I notice a LOT of brake dust with this car.

I guess to clarify, I am asking what I can do about the "anti skid service required" message, and why the adaptive headlights default to a "right" position when I get that message.

I know I should just take the car to the dealer to have any codes read, but I am intrigued enough to figure it out before I pay a lot of money.

Thanks,
Andrew

The XC90s have a problem with the contact reels going bad causing an intermittent anti skid light. You d ok need to get the codes pulled though.

Since when do the 3.2 become easy to work on? Looks can be deceiving my friend :P lol I've seen a person blow the airbag while trying to replace the clock spring. :P

Umm sorry to tell you but the Si6 engines are incredibly easy to work on. That person obviously did something wrong because changing the clock spring is one of the easiest things to do.
