Default New owner of used 2005 XC90

In an effort to get as far from a mini-van purchase as possible, my wife and I just purchased a 2005 V8 AWD XC90 with 81,000 mi on it. It was hard to resist, being in immaculate aesthetic shape, inside and out; dual rear dvd, good leather, carpets, no dents/dings except one on the roof from a carelessly placed parcel.
Drives quiet, smooth, good solid transmission, surprisingly getting 19.3 mpg driving around Wichita, Kansas. We are enjoying this vehicle and would like to keep it a long time.
I have several questions for more experienced XC90 owners:
1. Our Engine SN is 5633, so it falls within the range for potential CB shaft bearing failure. At 80k mi, should I go ahead and plan (say, maybe within the next 5000 miles) to have the bearings replaced and the TSB accomplished preemptively? What would this cost typically? If I decide to do this, should it be combined with any other anticipatory maint, such as timing belt, water pump, and alternator?
2. Superior Volvo in KC told me that the previous owner had the transmission replaced at 60K mi Aug-2010 ($5500 bill). Would this have likely been due to the transmission problems some XC90s were having, and will the new transmission be more reliable, having those defects corrected?
3. Both Headlight assys (halogen type) are starting to show some crazing and the upper 25% of both lenses are hazed, looks to be from pitting and erosion. Can I install new OEM HID assys (instead of halogen), or will I also have to modify wiring, add power supplies, reprogram fault computers, etc? Can the erosion be polished out?
4. The 6 disc changer is jammed with several disks in it. I would rather find a way to use my ipod in lieu of the changer- does anyone have any thoughts on the Dension GW51MO2 Gateway 500 Ice Llink set up?
5. Can factory service manuals be purchased anywhere? I’ve seen some sort of manuals on eBay, but they look suspicious.
Thanks in advance for anyone’s input.

Regarding the headlight statement in point 3 - have your Volvo dealer polish the headlights. Mine charges $30 and the headlights look like new when done. I get it done once a year during the spring detail. Makes a world of difference.
