I just purchased a 2004 XC90 w/ 9K miles and was wondering about the extended warranty. Is this a good option or waste of $? The dealer is offering a few options whereby they will handle all arrangements with a local Volvo dealer for warranty repairs, or should I look at an extended warranty from Volvo?
I've previously owned a 740 and V40 with decent reliability, but also understand that repairs can be costly. All comments appreciated.

I highly recommend te extended warranty - especially if you drive a lot and plan on keeping the vehicle longer than the warranty period. Get one that also covers your radio/CD/entertainment/Navigation, etc.CD & DVD components will fail sooner or later (just as on PC's) andreplacing any of thesealonecould cost you more than the extended warranty premium!!! Also check with other aftermarket warranty programs. Geico Auto Insurance offers an "after market" extended warranty which you only start paying for after your original warranty expires.
