Default P0027, No oil pressure, burning LOTS of oil, rattle noise at start up.

2006 Volvo XC90 2.5T FWD. 122,000 miles

P0027, "No oil pressure" notification, burning LOTS of oil, rattle noise at start up.

Kind of started all of a sudden.

Noise sounds like it could be coming from turbo.

Any ideas of where I should start looking.

I did check oil and level was OK.

Well, decided to tare into it. Saw bottom of turbo was oily so figured that must be it. Pulled it out to find the exhaust turbine missing! Shaft sheared in half. So gonna put in a new turbo. Bigger question now is what caused it?

I would drop the oil pan and check the seal on the oil pump pick up and the rod bearings. The seal gets hard and allows the pump to draw air. The rest of the turbo is probably in the down pipe. That's where I found mine.

Does the oil pan have a gasket or does it just use that "grape jelly"?

I hope the rod bearings are ok. It's not knocking at all.

When your turbo blew up did you have oil pump problems too?
