How or where can I get a replacement key and remote entry for my 2008 XC90? I know the dealer can do it, but they want 155 for the key and remote and 150 + to program it. I can't afford this. I am new to Volvo's but, if you can find a used key fob (ebay) I think you can get a new blank fron th dealer around $40, have them cut it to match your inginition $20, and then pay for them to program it I would think 1/2 hr of shop time $60, you could save a little money...

 

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I wish they only charged what you said to program and recut. they told me once $150 and then 10 min later on another call to the service they upped it to $200. This was ONLY programming and cutting the blank. I couldn't believe it!
I looked on ebay and the cheapest I could find a blank key and a remote wqas about $80.00.

Only one dealer in our town and they want for a new key and remote about $150-175. Can't remember which they said.
IT"S UNBELIEVABLE! I remember when you could get a key for $5.00. I DON"T CARE IF IT HAS A TRANSPONDER! We all should have a choice when we buy a car whether we want the expensive key or the reasonable one. It is truly such a SCAM for dealers!
