Default Rear parking assist stays on while in reverse

Hello,
I'm a recent proud Volvo owner. This is my first post. I brought a used 2008 XC 90, 3.2L, 7 seater, 125km. I love the car, especially the saftey factor for my family. I've wanted one for a while. Before purchasing, I did my homework, brought it from a Vovlo dealer, took it out for multiple test drives, had it dependently inspected, all good.
Since I purchased it, there's been a bunch of little things - I've replaced a headlight (I replaced both), a parking light, a maintainece light appeared (I took it to a Volvo specialist for a tune up and changed all the fluids, including transmission fluid and spark plugs) and got a 4 wheel alignment. Just today, the rear parking assist alarm started acting up - it stays on when I am in reverse. It goes off if I'm not in reverse or if I turn the rear parking assist off.

I did some research and discovered that the rear parking assist can act up in wet weather and it was raining today in Toronto. More likely, water has already penetrated into or is obstructing the sensors. I searched the forum to see if there was any exisitng thread on this but couldn't find anything.
Can anyone advise on this? Possible remedies? Similiar experience? Any info is greatly appreciated. This forum is a great resource and I will be sure to engage more often now that I am a follower Volvo owner. Thanks.
